The Samyukta Kisan Morcha appeals to the farmers across India to make the 16th February 2024 Grameen Bandh a huge success by ensuring closure of the shops and mandis, putting an end to the entire village activities and joining the massive local demonstration.
The success of the Grameen Bandh will put pressure up on the BJP led Union Government to enforce the written assurance of 9th December 2021 on MSP@C2+50% with guaranteed procurement for all crops, comprehensive loan waiver, no privatisation of electricity sector and dismiss and prosecute the Ajay Mishra Teni, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs who is the main conspirator behind the massacre of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, implement the LARR Act 2013 (Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013) and withdraw all the pending cases against the farmers for participating in the historic farmers struggle at Delhi borders among others.
The Grameen Bandh will be extended to all the villages across the country. Even then, if the Narendra Modi Government does not meet the demands of farmers, the struggle will be intensified further.
The SKM urges the people to support the industrial/ sectoral strike of the workers on 16th February 2024 and extend solidarity to their genuine demands of Minimum Wage at Rs 26,000/- per month for workers, Repeal 4 Labour Codes, Guaranteed employment as Fundamental Right, No privatisation of PSUs including Railway, Defence, Electricity, No contractualisation of Jobs ,Scrapping Fixed Term Employment, Strengthen MGNREGS with 200 Days work per person per year and Rs.600/- as Daily Wage, Restore Old Pension Scheme, Pension and social security to all in formal and informal economy, Scrapping of Sec104 of newly introduced BNS among others.

The tremendous participation of above 141000 vehicles including 37000 tractors and 85000 two wheelers across India reflects the anger against the anti-farmer policies of the Modi Government. SKM congratulates and greets all those who have made the parade an unforgettable event in history.
These series of struggles including Mahapadav, Tractor/ Vehicle Parade as part of the second phase of united struggle declared in the ever first All India Convention of farmers and workers at New Delhi Talkatora Stadium on 24 August 2023, have successfully brought back the livelihood issues of the people – including MSP, employment, minimum wage, loan waiver and poverty- in the mainstream political discourse in the villages and towns across India is bound to determine the agenda in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election. SKM will fight the repressive and divisive policies of the BJP led Union Government that serves the interests of the Corporate Communal Nexus.
