AIKS Pays Tribute to Com. Prabodh Panda, Veteran Leader of Peasant Movement

All India Kisan Sabha expresses condolences at the sad demise of Com.Prabodh Panda, veteran leader of the Communist movement and President of All India Kisan Sabha (Ajoy Bhavan). He passed away on 27th February, 2018 due to a cardiac arrest. He was 72 years old. He had been holding the post of President of AIKS (Ajoy Bhavan) and was elected the Bengal State Secretary of Communist Party of India in 2015. He was a Member of Parliament from Medinipur being elected 3 times from the same seat. In the Parliament along with raising the issues of the peasantry, working class and the poor he consistently raised issues of the Jute farmers and Jute Mill Workers. As a Member of Parliament his consistent presence in all struggles of the peasantry and working class in Delhi other than his other responsibilities elsewhere is notable. A soft spoken Communist leading a spartan life he was a good organiser who endeared himself to all. He was widely respected for his role in Parliament, as the President of AIKS (Ajoy Bhavan) and leader of the Communist Party.

He has worked in close coordination with our organisation and helped build stronger bonds between the two Kisan Sabhas. On numerous occasions he has addressed protests and rallies held by AIKS. His commitment to united action and building of issue-based unity as well as unity of Left Kisan organisations shall be remembered. AIKS feels that his passing away in times of intense issue-based united struggles is a great loss for the peasantry.

AIKS dips its red banner in memory of Com.Prabodh Panda and conveys condolences to his family and all comrades who worked with him.
