AIKS and AIAWU condemn the attack and police firing on peaceful protest by Kisans in Rajasthan
One Kisan has been killed and many have been injured in the police action. AIKS demands compensation of Rs.1 Crore to the family of the Kisan killed in police action and a Government job for a member of the family.
At the Chomu Chandwaji Toll Gate farmers have been a protest against the illegal collection of toll tax by a BJP MLA and his goons for the last 22 days. According to reports, although the contract period for collecting toll at the Toll Gate had expired more than 2 years ago, the BJP MLA was collecting toll from commuters. The BJP goons today arrived at the venue of the peaceful protest and attacked the protestors with stones. Even as the farmers resisted the attack the police acting hand-in-glove with the BJP MLA and his supporters resorted to teargas, lathi-charge and firing on the protestors rather than take action on the perpetrators of the attack. We demand arrest and action against the BJP MLA and police authorities who have colluding with him. It is also to be noted that this continued even after the Vasundhara Raje led BJP Government had agreed to scrap all Toll for all private vehicles after the massive protests by Kisan Sabha last month. AIKS Vice President Amra Ram was arrested along with about 30 others and sent to judicial custody. We demand unconditional release of Amra Ram and all protestors arrested.
Rajasthan Kisan Sabha has called for State-wide protests against the attack and police action on 2nd April. 2018. AIKS and AIAWU extend support to this call and call upon all our units to rise in protest against this brutal action.
