Stop Authoritarian Attacks on Democratic Rights! All India Kisan Sabha condemns the undemocratic action on Manipur Loumee Marup by the BJP led State government
AIKS condemns the Manipur police action at the behest of the BJP led Manipur State government on the Manipur Loumee Marup, organisation of the peasantry and an affiliated unit of All India Kisan Sabha. The police action seeking to intimidate and deter a team of Kisan Sabha and Trade Union activists from participating in the Mazdoor Kisan Sangarsh Rally to be held on 5th September, 2018 at New Delhi is an authoritarian move which is unacceptable.
On 31st August evening a team of Manipur Police led by a Sub- Inspector entered the office premises of the Loumee Marup and questioned its Joint Secretary Heikrujam Ibohal on the Press Release issued in the name of its President yesterday and published today in some local dailies. The police team demanded the list of participants who are proceeding to New Delhi and he was picked up by the police team and taken to Imphal Police Station on the pretext of further questioning. He was kept there for full two hours for questioning and action was threatened against participants travelling to take part in the Mazdoor-Kisan Sangharsh Rally.
We warn the paranoid BJP that the people will respond in full measure against the undeclared Emergency in the State in particular and the effort to stifle democratic rights in the whole country in general. The democratic mass, class and social associations and unions cannot be cowed down by such undemocratic and anti people onslaught.
