AIKS Gujarat State Conference calls for Struggle on Burning Peasant Issues and Campaign against Communalism

The 15th #AIKS Gujarat state conference held at Upleta in Rajkot district on 7-8 October 2022 gave a call for intensifying struggles on burning peasant issues, leading a concerted campaign against communalism, and strengthening the organisation manifold. It was attended by 131 delegates, 23 of whom were women. They represented a membership of 50,198 in 15 districts. The membership has risen from 19,000 at the last state conference in 2017.
After the flag-hoisting and floral tributes to martyrs, the inaugural session was presided over by AIKS state president Dayabhai Gajera. Vinoo Geravada, chairman of the reception committee, welcomed the gathering. AIKS President Dr Ashok Dhawale inaugurated the conference, and while dealing with the current grave agrarian and political challenges, called for the defeat of the BJP-RSS. There were greetings by leaders of fraternal mass fronts.
AIKS state secretary Purushottam Parmar placed the report, which was given in printed form to the delegates. 17 delegates took good part in the discussion. After the adoption of the report and various resolutions, the credentials committee report was placed. The conference unanimously elected a 25 member state committee and 7 state office bearers, with Dayabhai Gajera as President and Purushottam Parmar as Secretary. 12 delegates to the All India Conference were also elected. Dr Ashok Dhawale gave the concluding speech about strengthening the AIKS.
The public meeting at the Gandhi Chowk was addressed by Dr Ashok Dhawale, Dayabhai Gajera, #CITU state secretary Arun Mehta, #AIIEA Western Zone secretary H I Bhatt, AIKS leaders Dinesh Parmar and Dinesh Kantaria.
In a special function, an important road in the centre of Upleta town near Bhagat Singh Chowk was named after departed CPI(M) leader Dalpatbhai Niranjani, by Dr Ashok Dhawale. Upleta Municipal Council President Mayur Suva presided over the function. Comrade Niranjani was in jail during the Maha Gujarat movement in the 1950, was elected Municipal Councillor, was a champion of the working people, and was a dedicated leader of the CPI(M).
