Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangham Conference

The 29th State Conference of Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangham affiliated to AIKS was held from 27th-29th August, 2017 at Kambam in Theni district.   Over 500 delegates from across the State participated in the Conference. The Conference was inaugurated by AIKS Joint Secretary Vijoo Krishnan. Inaugurating the Conference he exposed the BJP led Central Government and Narendra Modi for betrayal of the peasantry and the insensitive approach to plight of farmers in the State who are facing the worst drought in over 140 years. He pointed out that united struggles were intensifying and emerging victorious. The unity of Left and democratic forces including organisations of the peasantry, workers, Dalits, Adivasis, Students, Youth, Women, Disabled and various Social Movements will defeat the Modani Model of loot of land, water, forest and mineral resources he said. He pointed out that this unity will defeat all divisive forces and challenge the authoritarian BJP Government having fascist tendencies.

AIKS General Secretary Hannan Mollah gave the concluding address. AIKS Vice President K.Varadharajan also addressed it. K.Balakrishnan, President of Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangham made the Presidential address and State Secretary P.Shanmugham placed the Report of the last four years enlisting various struggles and advance made in the State.

The Conference paid tributes to Martyrs and adopted a Condolence Resolution. Many Resolutions were passed and delegates from different districts took part in the discussion. Representatives of Sugarcane Farmers Association, Tamilnadu Tribal Association and others addressed the Conference. Hannan Mollah, General Secretary, AIKS, K.Varadharajan, Vice President, AIKS and Thirunavukkarasu President of AIAWU also participated.

P.Shanmugham was elected General Secretary and K.Balakrishnan was elected President.

A massive procession was flagged off by AIKS Joint Secretary Vijoo Krishnan on 29th August and the Rally was addressed by Com.Thomas Isaac, Finance Minister of Kerala, Hannan Mollah General Secretary AIKS, K.Balakrishnan, P.Shanmugham and others. Thousands braved rains to attend the procession and Rally.
