Statement on Horrific Killing of Two Innocent Youth by Cow Vigilantes

18th February, 2023: All India Kisan Sabha(AIKS) has expressed deep sense of anger and shock over horrific killing – burning alive- of two innocent youth by cow vigilante criminals on Thursday.  Junaid (35) and Nasir (27) of Ghatmika village in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan were abducted by the gang of so called Gau rakshak and beaten up badly they were brought to the Ferozepur Jhirka Police station of Nuh district of Haryana in a critical condition. The staff of the police station not only deliberately failed in their duty to arrest the abductors but even declined to take the injured persons to a hospital and save their life.

Consequently, the cow vigilante gang took them far away and shockingly burnt them alive in their vehicle in the jungle near a village of Loharu sub division of Bhiwani District in Haryana.

On knowing of this horrific episode senior AIKS Vice President Com. Amra Ram and CPI(M) polit bureau member Brinda Karat rushed to Ghatmeeka village to meet the grief stricken families .

Let it be recalled that it is not an isolated incident but should be seen in a series of lynching’s perpetrated by extortionist gangs of self-styled Gau rakshaks working in active collusion with the police in the Mewat region during recent years. This region is dominated by Meo Muslims having contiguity with the states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

AIKS Haryana State Vice President Om Prakash, Bhiwani district secretary Prathap Singh Singhmer and former SKM leader Sukhdev Singh visit the spot where the two youth were burnt alive by Bajrang Dal goons.

The infamous lynching of Pehlu Khan in 2017 was followed by Umar Mohammad in November 2017, murder of Rakbar Khan in July 2018 and now it is Junaid and Nasir.  All the victims in these cases are dairy farmers and have nothing to do with cow smuggling as alleged. Transportation of cattle between Rajasthan and Haryana is a routine livelihood activity for the people of these regions.

Since the enactment of a draconian law named as the Haryana Gau Vansh Sanrakshan and Gau Samvardhan Act – 2015 and creation of Cow Task Force it has become a handle for the gau rakshak gangs working in tandem with the police to freely target and  assault  the dairy farmers and traders especially Muslims . All these illegal and criminal actions are part of rabid communal divisive politics of communal polarization of BJP.  Well known faces of BJP persons active in various communal outfits like Bajrang Dal, VHP, Gau Raksha Dal etc are actively engaged in spreading hatred and violent provocation against the minority community in this region with absolute impunity. They are organising panchayats in the area of majority community and openly inciting the people to attack the minority people. Even some of the the accused named in the present case of heinous crime are also known faces.

The overall situation of preventing the cattle transportation has brought the cattle trade to stand still on the one hand and drastic increase in the population of stray cattle becoming a permanent threat to the crops farmers.

AIKS demands immediate arrest of all the accused persons including police personnel accused of criminal negligence of duty, government jobs and financial compensation to the families of victims and disbanding all self-styled groups in the name of cow vigilante.

AIKS calls upon all its units across the country to publically condemn the gruesome killings and expose the real face of communal politics of BJP and its outfits.
