Kuldip Nayyar: Champion of Democracy
AIKS expresses its deep sorrow and conveys heartfelt condolences on the demise of Kuldip Nayyar, veteran journalist, human rights activist and parliamentarian. His demise is a huge loss to the people. He always cherished the rights of the people and has made enormous sacrifice to fight the forces of authoritarianism during the period of emergency. He was admired for consistent fight against communal and fascist forces.
Equipped with the rich experience of his own time Kuldip Nayyar uncompromisingly stood for secular credentials of Indian society. He consistently advocated for people to people unity and strong bond with neighboring countries especially with the people of Pakistan. He was always for liberty, pluralism and civil rights. A role model for free and fearless journalism, his memory will always continue to inspire new generation journalists who aspire for contributing to build a better society free of exploitation and authoritarianism.
On behalf of Kisan Sabha, Finance Secretary P Krishnaparasad attended the funeral at Lodi Road Crematorium at Delhi and paid homage.
