Kisans and Workers Ensure Toll-Free Movement through Toll-Gates Across India
At the call of the united Kisan movement thousands of peasants and workers assembled at toll plazas across the country and ensured toll-free movement of vehicles. Massive protests were held in front of Reliance petrol pumps and other establishments of Adanis and Ambanis. The peaceful but resolute protest saw enthusiastic participation and people from nearby locations also came out in support.
In Punjab the toll-free movement is going on from June onwards. In Haryana at over 20 places on the highways toll-free movement was ensured with thousands and Reliance petrol pumps and malls were picketed at many places. Massive participation was witnessed at Bhiwani, Rohtak, Hisar, Sonepat, Fatehabad and other places. In Odisha the toll-gates at different places on the Howrah-Chennai as well Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highways at Bhubaneswar, Ganjam, Cuttack and other places. Vehicles moved freely without paying toll. In Andhra Pradesh reports received so far the protest was successfully held in 31 centres where 25 Centres saw toll-free movement while in 6 places police used force and arrested protesting farmers and workers. In Telangana at 18 centres the AIKSCC constituents ensured toll-free movement. In Madhya Pradesh at 6 Toll Plazas protests were held. In many places in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Bihar also protests were reported. As per reports received so far across out of the 450 toll booths the protest action was successfully held in around 165 places. In Kerala indefinite Satyagraha in solidarity with the farmers’ struggle began at Trivandrum and other districts will have the protests after the elections to Local Bodies.
The AIKS calls upon all its units to join in the protest actions in a peaceful manner on 14th December, 2020 and give a fitting rebuff to the BJP Government who are deliberately seeking to discredit the movement.
