AIKS EXTENDS REVOLUTIONARY GREETINGS TO 55 LAKH WOMEN IN KERALA FOR THE MASSIVE SUCCESS OF THE HISTORIC WOMEN’S WALL!
The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) sends its New Year revolutionary greetings to, and salutes the 55 lakh women of Kerala who formed the historic and unprecedented Women’s Wall (Vanitha Mathil) for nearly 650 Km from Kasargod in the north to Thiruvananthapuram in the south.
Embodying the spirit of the Renaissance, the women came out to valiantly defend the values of democracy, secularism, social justice and equal rights to women.
The massive success of the Women’s Wall strongly rebuffed the communal, obscurantist and sexist conspiracies of the RSS-BJP to divide the progressive people of Kerala on the Sabrimala temple entry issue.
Flouting the decision of the Supreme Court which allowed entry to women of all ages into the Sabarimala temple, the RSS-BJP led a retrograde and reactionary campaign opposing the entry of women. They want to turn Kerala and the whole of India back to the times of the hated Manusmriti. The Congress in Kerala also opportunistically backed the RSS-BJP campaign.
The LDF state government of Kerala, led by its chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, played a crucial role not only in defending the Supreme Court verdict, but also in frontally countering the communal forces on this and other issues.
Over the last five months, the LDF regime has also played a sterling role in the relief and rehabilitation operations to assist the flood-ravaged people of Kerala, in the face of a completely callous central government led by Narendra Modi.
More than 176 renaissance organisations took part in this historic Women’s Wall. The AIDWA and other Left-led class and mass organisations played a leading role throughout the state.
The AIKS denounces the Sangh Parivar goons who attacked the Women’s Wall at Chettukundu, Kasargod by pelting stones at the women. These shameful and cowardly attacks show that the RSS finds itself completely isolated from Kerala society.
The AIKS also congratulates the thousands of women who formed Women’s Chains in Mumbai, Chennai and other places, in solidarity with the Women’s Wall in Kerala.
