AIKS Condemns the Cowardly Attack on Kisan Leader Rakesh Tikait

The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) unequivocally condemns the shameful violent attack on Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait during a Rally in Muzaffarnagar on 2 May 2025. The Rally was organised against the terror attack in Pahalgam. Tikait, who had taken the stage to question the government’s failure to prevent the attack and emphasised the need for Hindu-Muslim unity, was physically assaulted by members of Hindutva outfits present at the gathering.
This attack was a pre-planned effort by right-wing elements to silence the farmer leader who was attending the rally with only a small contingent of BKU activists. Video footage from the incident shows clearly that he was cornered not by the general public but by vigilante goons.
We demand that those responsible for the assault must be arrested and prosecuted without delay. It is imperative that the state guarantees protection for all those who dare to speak out against communal forces. This moment also calls for a renewed commitment to uphold the constitutional rights of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, which are being dangerously undermined by Hindutva outfits.
AIKS calls on all progressive and democratic forces to join in condemning the cowardly attack on Rakesh Tikait.
