Agrarian revolution inevitable to overcome the present neo-liberal crisis
The 81st foundation day of AIKS observed at New Delhi
The All India Kisan Sabha that was formed on 11th April 1936 at Lucknow observed its 81st foundation day all over the country. The various units hoisted the flag and different kinds of programmes including organised processions, meetings, seminars and distribution of sweets were organised.
At New Delhi the AIKS flag has been hoisted by N K Shukla, joint secretary. The meeting was presided over by P Krishnaprasad, Finance Secretary. Suneet Chopra AIAWU, A R Sindhu CITU, Asha Sharma AIADWA spoke in the meeting.
The speakers focussed on the role of peasant movement in resolving the intensifying contemporary agrarian crisis and said slogans based on concrete issues to advance the agrarian revolution is the need of the epoch. The neo-liberal crisis on agriculture is differentiated across crops and regions and the peasantry is facing severe pauperisation, indebtedness, large scale migration and most extreme facade of taking asylum in suicide.
The Modi government has failed to resolve the crisis and instead is intensifying neo-liberal policies that will make exploding situation in the countryside. 48 farmers per day were committing suicide under UPA rule but under Modi Rule it has increased to 52 farmers per day.
The BJP cannot enjoy the present upper hand in the national politics for long since it is continuing with the same economic policy of congress that is the root cause of the agrarian crisis. The majority of the people are peasants and working class and they will be forced to rally against the Modi Raj in the near future. The BJP will not get that much time that congress was enjoying getting itself marginalised. But to materialise the political change the peasant and working class movement shall come together and put Left and Democratic alternative at the national level in front of the people.
