12th February 2026 General Strike a Historic Success

The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) congratulates crores of Indian workers, agricultural workers and toiling peasantry for making the 12th February 2026 General Strike a historic success. The anger of working people against the anti-people policies of the RSS-BJP-led Union government was visible across all regions and sectors of the country. The strike was a resounding success in the organised sector as well as in the unorganised sector. The agrarian belts also responded enthusiastically. Across the length and breadth of the country, working people gathered in large numbers at more than 2,000 places. In spite of terrorising tactics by the state—using police, courts, etc.—and the goondagiri of the capitalist class, the working class bravely stood for the cause in a do-or-die battle. This was evident from the unprecedented response.

The strike was particularly strong in coal, electricity, and power. Petroleum, refinery, and gas workers also responded in a commendable manner. Working-class action in the manufacturing and industrial sectors was also vibrant. Engineering, heavy industry, textiles, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and plantations witnessed strong mobilisations. Many ports were paralysed. Public transport workers also participated. Scheme workers, including Anganwadi, ASHA, and Mid-Day Meal workers, participated in huge numbers in several states.

The AIKS notes that the increasing class solidarity between workers, agricultural workers, and farmers will be a force to reckon within the political economy of India. The abject surrender of the Modi regime to the dictates of US imperialism has angered the peasantry, evident from the disciplined and militant joint actions of workers and the peasantry. The many constituents of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) held strong demonstrations in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Tamilnadu, National Capital Region (NCR), and many other regions and states, and blocked rail and vehicular movement. Agricultural workers also mobilised for the right to work in a muscular way in Rajasthan.

The 12th February General Strike is a warning to the ruling dispensation: Withdraw the slew of anti-people bills and acts and restore the pro-worker and pro-farmer policies. If the Modi government fails to respond adequately to the demands of the toilers of the country, it will be inviting a much longer general strike in the coming days.

Red Salute to the 12th February 2026 General Strike!
Long Live Worker-Peasant Unity!
