“The promises in the Budget speech reminds of an anecdote narrated by a veteran Kisan leader to expose the betrayal of promises by the Government. The anecdote has it that the masses were demanding for sugar and the Minister scribbles S-U-G-A-R on a piece of paper and asks them to savour it. The promises of the Modi-Jaitley duo and their claims of the Budget being pro-farmer are no different from the anecdote. Narendra Modi and the BJP-led NDA have conjured up their last illusion keeping in mind the next elections. The peasants have seen through their game and know that the emperor has no clothes.”
