Jail Bharo held to highlight farmers’ woe

As part of call given by All-India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) in association with All-India Agriculture Working Union (AIAWU), Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM), the representatives of respective associations along with leaders of CPM party held a ‘Jail Bharo’ programme on Thursday demanding the government to solve various issues pertaining to farming sector.

Earlier in the morning, the representatives took out a rally from Zilla Parishad centre to the Collectorate raising slogans against the government and tried to lay seige to the Collectorate.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders alleged that both the State and Central governments had failed to implement promises made to farmers. Many farmers have invested huge amounts of money for raising crops.

However, they are totally disappointed for not getting adequate MSP for their produce. Unable to repay the debts, they are committing suicides, they highlighted. The government is behaving negligently towards the issues of farming sector. In the name of useless schemes, the government has been wasting public money and trying to deceive people, they criticised.

Meanwhile, the police officials who were already deployed in large numbers at the Collectorate stopped the agitators from entering the Collectorate. A heated argument took place between the agitators and police officials. Later, the police officials arrested the CPM party leaders along with the representatives of AIKS, CITU, AIAWU and sent them to nearby police stations.
