NEW DELHI: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and key opposition leaders are among those who will join over one lakh farmers as they congregate in the national capital to protest against the Centre’s “anti-farmer policies” on November 29 and 30.

The protest is a culmination of different farmers’ initiatives over the past two years, including introduction of two private member’s bills in Parliament on behalf of the farm community demanding remunerative prices for all crops, and freedom from indebtedness.

The protest, organised by All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, will see farmers undertake a 25 km ‘Kisan Mukti March’ from Bijwasan to Ramlila ground. Speaking to TOI, All India Kisan Sabha leader and CPM politburo member Hannan Mollah said about one lakh farmers would move from Ramlila Maidan to Parliament Street to reiterate their demand for a special session of Parliament to legislate on farmers’ issues.
