AIKS Vice- President Arrested for Protesting for Farmers’ Rights in Rajasthan

The farmers of  Rajasthan, under the leadership of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), had staged a historical protest in Sikar district in September 2017. The farmers had put forth 12 major demands, to which the government had agreed to then. Excluding the mobility of necessary goods and services, the entire district was shut down.

Now that the farmers’ agitation has stopped, it seems like the BJP government is refusing to acknowledge their demands. They have completely backed off from their promises.

This had enraged the whole of farmer community, who decided to start their protests again. Four “Jathas” from all over Rajasthan had started marching towards the state’s Vidhan Sabha building in Jaipur and upon reaching had intended to perform a “gherao” in front of it. But, on February 20, the Vice President of AIKS was arrested, while he was on his way to Jaipur.
