AIKS National Council Meeting in Tamil Nadu Gives Clarion Call for Making Ensuing Nationwide Struggles a Massive Success

ALL INDIA COUNCIL MEETING OF AIKS IN TAMIL NADU GIVES CLARION CALL FOR MAKING ENSUING NATIONWIDE STRUGGLES A MASSIVE SUCCESS

The meeting of the All India Council of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) was held at Rajapalayam, Dist Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu from July 18-20. It began with the flag-hoisting by senior Vice President of AIKS, S Ramachandran Pillai. AIKS Joint Secretary N K Shukla placed the Condolence Resolution.

AIKS President Dr Ashok Dhawale, in his Presidential Address, analysed the political challenges before the peasantry and the country. AIKS General Secretary Hannan Mollah, in his General Secretary’s Report, analysed the serious agrarian situation in the country and outlined the major tasks as regards both movement and organisation.

24 out of over 100 comrades who were present from all states contributed to the rich discussion on the Report. The discussion was enthusiastic and reflected the peasant struggles being led by the AIKS independently and unitedly in various states.

The AIKS meeting gave a clarion call to make a massive success of the 10-crore signature campaign, the countrywide Jail Bharo agitation in every district on August 9, the nationwide Mazdoor Kisan Sangharsh Rally in Delhi on September 5, the Kisan Mukti Long March to Parliament in November and the Rs 5 crore Struggle Fund campaign of the AIKS.

The target of all these struggle calls is the anti-peasant, anti-worker and anti-people policies and the communal and casteist conspiracies of the Modi-led BJP-RSS government.

Resolutions on the following important issues placed by AIKS Joint Secretary Vijoo Krishnan were adopted in this meeting – 1. Condemning the killings in Thoothukudi, 2. In solidarity with the united struggle against Salem-Chennai green corridor, 2. Condemning the attacks on democracy in Tripura and West Bengal by the BJP-RSS and TMC respectively, 3. Against meagre increase in FRP for sugarcane, 4. Insensitive handling of the drought and flood situation by central government, 5. Exposing the hoax of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, 6. Against the Walmart takeover of Flipkart and FDI in retail trade, 7. Against the gruesome mob lynching attacks by communal forces, 8. Against growing atrocities on women and girl children, 9. Against Israeli company Netafim. AIKS Finance Secretary P Krishnaprasad placed the Accounts and these were also adopted.

On the evening of July 19 there was a good public meeting in Rajapalayam which was addressed by Hannan Mollah, Dr Ashok Dhawale, K Varadha Rajan, K Balakrishnan, P Shanmugham and other leaders.

The AIKC thanked the AIKS Tamil Nadu state committee for making excellent arrangements for this meeting.
