Second P Sundarayya Memorial Lecture Successfully Organised on November 6
The 2nd PS Memorial Lecture was delivered by Professor Emerita Utsa Patnaik on the topic: “Agrarian Distress, Worker-Peasant Alliance and Resistance to Corporate and Imperialist Designs in India” on November 6th, 2024. The lecture was organised by P Sundarayya Memorial Trust (PSMT).
Prof Utsa Patnaik traced the brutal trajectory of imperial violence on India’s peasantry. She said that mainstream economists are ignoring the gravity of colonial violence. Utsa also dissected the horrors unleashed by International Finance Capital on the rural working people in the post reform period. The draconian farm laws were designed by imperialism to loot the working people. Prof Utsa Patnaik reiterated that a robust worker peasant alliance can only resist Imperialist designs.
The lecture was attended by senior leadership of class and mass movements, distinguished academics, students from different universities, journalists, youth and civil society activists. A large number of women also participated.
