Statement on Death of Six Workers of Sasamusa Sugar Mill Limited, Gopalganj
N K Shukla, Convenor, All India Sugarcane Farmers Co-ordination Committee , through a press statement has expressed his heartfelt condolences at the death of six workers of Sasamusa Sugar Mill Limited, Gopalganj dist of Bihar, due to serious accident of bursting of boiler on last 20th December night . This accident took place due to negligence in rehearing of boiler killing six workers and injuring dozens. We demand immediate arrest of responsible mill management and government officials responsible for security checkup of this mill. We also demand adequate compensation to the families of killed and injured. Immediate repairing of the boiler be done so that sugar mill starts working at the earliest as sugarcane crops are standing in thousands of acres are lying in the field to be supplied to this mill. Farmers should also be adequately compensated if the opening of this mill is delayed.
Arun Kumar , Joint Secretary, Bihar State Kisan Sabha led a delegation and visited this Sugar Mill and surrounding villages on 25th December 2017. Cadres of CPI(M), Kisan Sabha and other mass organization have visited the spot on 21st December itself and cooperated in rescue operation.
