Kisan Mukti Yatra reached Begusarai
The Kisan Mukti Yatra reached Begusarai (known as Moscow of India) on 5th November, 2017. A massive Meeting was held at Ayurvedic College Grounds. The meeting was addressed by Hannan Mollah General Secretary of AIKS, Vijoo Krishnan AIKS Joint Secretary, Rajaram Singh General Secretary AIKMS, Dr.Sunilam, NAPM, Avik Saha Convenor Jai Kisan Andolan, Satyavan, AIKKMS Prahlad Ingole Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatan, Chandrasekhar AIKMS and others.
Addressing the meeting Vijoo Krishnan mentioned that while in entire India farmers were getting only RS.900-Rs.1000 per quintal of paddy as the MSP of RS.1,550/- per quintal is only notional due to absence of public procurement, in Left ruled Kerala paddy was being procured at a record RS 2,300/- per quintal. The Central BJP Government and JD(U)- BJP Government in Bihar were only betraying farmers and lacked political will to work for the welfare of the Peasantry he said. He also cited the case of the Debt Relief Commission in Kerala which helped waive not just institutional loan but also loans taken from Private sources and contrasted it with Yogi Government which in the name of loan waiver waived amounts as low as 90 paise to RS.1/- or RS.18/-, only a pittance compared to actual debt of farmers. This was a mockery of the plight of the Peasantry. Referring to the “Awaaz” programme of the Kerala LDF Government he said while neither Nitish Kumar nor any BJP Government had social security for workers, let alone migrant workers a model for the entire country was being implemented in Kerala in the form of health insurance, life insurance and accident insurance for all migrant workers. He said this has to be contrasted with the kind of attacks faced by migrant workers from Bihar in Mumbai at the hands of Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray’s followers. He and other speakers called upon the Peasantry to attend the Kisan Sansad in Delhi on 20th November in large numbers to defeat the communal RSS-BJP and Neo-Liberal Economic Policies implemented by the ruling classes.
Hannan Mollah and other speakers continued with the meeting even as a team left to the next venue at Darbhanga.
