Protest March in front of Assam Bhavan against Killing of farmers in Kaziranga by BJP government

Against the brutal killing of two farmers by Police Firing in Assam, a protest march was organised in front of Assam Bhavan, Chanakyapuri,New Delhi under the banner of Delhi action committee. The protesters shouted slogans and conducted a public meeting and condemned the atrocities committed by the BJP led Government of Assam.

The leader of action committee Banajith Hussain said the farmers in Kaziranga villages were inhabited there since 1960’s and are in possession of lease title, ration card, voter identity card etc. They were willing to vacate the area in the context of High Court order but raising genuine demand of rehabilitation and compensation from the authorities. The BJP government in Assam with a communal mindset purposefully decided to use force and vacate the families without considering the civil rights of these citizens since they are poor Muslims. The authorities have arranged shifting of seven Hindu families from the area one day ahead and unleashed atrocities over the innocent farmers killing two and severely injuring another five exposes the communal character of the state government.

P Krishnaprasad, Finance Secretary of all India Kisan Sabha while addressing the protest march condemned the heinous act of the BJP led Sonowal government and declared solidarity of All India Kisan Sabha to the protest movement against the killing of farmers. The High Court order did not pay attention to the genuine civil rights of the farmers inhabiting the land for generations for rehabilitation and compensation. The High Court judgement considers jungle and wild animals more precious than citizens of the country is a shame to the Judiciary. The BJP government acted with communal prejudice and propagate that Anjuma Khatun and Fakruddin who died in the attack and were the genuine citizens of the country are foreign infiltrators from Bangladesh since they are Muslims.  The same BJP government which claims it is sincere to reoccupy the land from settler farmers have no shame to give 515 Hectors of tribal land in a platter to Guru Ramdev of Pathanjali Business group at throw away price.

Many activists including Harsh Manthar addressed the protest meet. The action committee representatives submitted a mass petition to the resident commissioner.

An eleven member delegation of Assam unit of Kisan Sabha under the leadership of its secretary Tiken Das and other leaders including  Kemraj Chettry, Gobinda Sinha, Praksh Hazarika, Gopal Newar, Dhaneswar Dolai, Ramakantha Bora, Angshuman Sarma visited the affected villages in Kaziranga on 22nd September and met the displaced farmers.
