Countrywide campaign to expose ‘Modani Model’ of Development

Leaders from States will march to Parliament on 10th August and meet Rashtrapathi demanding no forced acquisition of agriculture land and displacement

The Solidarity Agrarian Strike on 2nd September 2016

The three day convention of Bhoomi Adhikar Andolan has decided to strengthen resistance against forced acquisition of agriculture land by State governments. States like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Orissa, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are coming up with draconian legislations subverting the 20913 Act. The convention decided to expand the Bhoomi Adhikar Andolan, the united platform of peasants, agriculture workers and social organisations to the state level and intensify resistance against forced land acquisition and displacement.

As part of intensifying struggles state leaders of Bhoomi Adhikar Andolan will participate in March to Parliament on 10th August 2016 and meet Rashtrapathi requesting him to ensure withdrawal of the infamous Land Acquisition Bill from the Parliament. The convention demanded that the Modi Government withdraw its decision to allow 100% FDI in agriculture and E Platform which facilitates corporate loot of peasantry by integrating agriculture market all over the country. The convention has come to the conclusion that the last 25 years of implementation of Neo liberal reforms has intensified the acute agrarian crisis and peasant suicides in the country. It called for the Parliament to review the impact of reforms over various sections of the society.

The convention decided to support the all India strike of workers on 2nd September, 2016 and call upon the peasantry to organise agrarian strike in solidarity. It will lead to emergence of solid worker peasant alliance all over the country as a credible alternative to neoliberal forces.

The convention decided to observe 15th December, 2016 as Forest Rights Day that marks the 10th anniversary of implementation of forest Rights act. A Rally will be organised on that day at Delhi.

The convention condemned the Gujarat Model of Development mockingly called as ‘Modani Model’ by Gujarati Public since it has been promoted by Modi-Adani Combine and based on exploitation of cheap labour and easy access to large tracts of land at cheap price.  Hence the corporate forces are investing in Gujarat and amass huge profits. ‘Modani Model’ is framed on the basis of the policies of IMF and World Bank. The education and Health sector and the rural economy are severely deteriorating and common people belong to peasantry, working class, Adivasis and Dalits are suffering under the BJP government. The Bhoomi Adhikar Andolan and its constituent organisations will take up countrywide campaigns to expose the hollowness of the ‘Modani Model’.
