34th Conference: Condolence Resolutions

Nelson Mandela

This conference of AIKS dips its red flag and pays tribute to Nelson Mandela, the ultimate symbol of struggle for human dignity and unwavering dedication revolutionary leader and freedom fighter of South Africa to the revolutionary struggle for freedom and justice. Nelson Mandela was the most recognised and respected face of the anit-apartheid movement in South Africa . He was born on 18th July 1918. In 1993 he won the Nobal Peace Prize. On 10th May 1994 he became South Africa’s first democratically elected President.

Nelson Mandela never wavered in his commitment to democracy, equality and freedom. Despite terrible provocation, he never answered racism with racism. His life has been an inspiration to all who are oppressed and deprived; to all who are opposed to oppression and deprivation. He died at his home in Johannesburg on 5 December 2013.

Comrade Fidel Castro

This Conference of All India Kisan Sabha dips its red banner in honour of Comrade Fidel Castro, who passed away on 25th November, 2016. Ever inspiring leader of the Cuban Revolution and beacon of struggle against imperialism he was a true internationalist who built solidarity with anti-colonial movements in different parts of the world. The 82 revolutionaries under his leadership achieved the impossible and under a groundswell of public support overthrew the US backed dictatorship. Cuba under his leadership could decisively break the chains of neo-colonialism and servitude.
Under his leadership Cuba actively helped the struggle against colonialism, imperialism and apartheid regime in Angola, Mozambique and South Africa. It stood by the nations that stood opposed to imperialist forces and came to play a decisive role in the Non Aligned Movement. Under his leadership Cuba overcame a brutal economic blockade of the most inhuman nature and successfully defied predictions of imminent doom after the Soviet collapse.

Comrade Fidel Castro shall continue to inspire generations to come in their fight against imperialism, inequalities and oppression. The Conference of All India Kisan Sabha extends condolences to the Cuban people and all who held him dear.

Comrade Benoy Konar:

This Conference of AIKS condoles the sad demise of Com.Benoy Konar, who passed away on September 14,2014 at Kolkata at the age of 84. He was former President of All India Kisan Sabha and veteran leader of Kisan movement.

He had served as the General Secretary and President of the Paschim Banga Krishak Sabha and as a Central Committee Member and West Bengal State Secretariat Member of the CPI (M) for a long period. He was the President of AIKS from 1995 to 1999 and played a major role in formulating the organisation’s position against Neo-liberal economic policies and building struggles against the anti-peasant policies. He was the Vice-President of AIKS till the 33rd All India Conference in Cuddalore held in July 2013.

Com.Benoy Konar was thrice elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. In his role as a legislator he was the voice of the peasantry and rural poor. He continuously engaged with the issues of the peasantry and also wrote extensively on agrarian issues. Even when his health was failing he personally made great efforts to collect funds for the AIKS Central Office Building Fund.

Comrade Noorul Huda:

This Conference of AIKS expresses grief and condolence at the sad demise of Comrade Noorul Huda ex MP, veteran leader and CKC member of All India Kisan Sabha and former CC Member of CPI(M). Comrade Huda passed away on 17th December 2015 at Kolkata, at the age of 85.

Com Huda joined Kisan Sabha in 1967 and elected to the Assam Provincial Kisan Sabha and Central Kisan Committee. In 1974 he was elected as Member of Parliament from Cachar and in 1978 he was elected as MLA from Silchar to Assam Assembly.Com Huda was arrested and put in jail during whole period of emergency in 1975-77.

In August 2006 he shifted to New Delhi to work as the Finance Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha and continued till 2013. In September 2013 he shifted to Kolkata and joined the West Bengal Pradesh Krishak Sabha office as a member of CKC.

Comrade R Umanath:

This conference of AIKS mourns the death Com, Umanath ,veteran TU leader and former PB member CPI(M) former MP from Tamilnadu.who life long fought for the cause of workers, peasants and other toiling masses, and sends heartfelt condolences to bereaved family members.

Comrade A B Bardhan:

This conference of AIKS condoles the sad demise of Com A B Bardhan, a veteran T U Leader, former Gen. Secy of CPI and former Gen Secy of AITUC. He made great contribution in organizing and uniting the working class and other toiling masses, through NPMO and other joint forums. The AIKC pays its respectful homage to the memory of Com A B Bardhan and sends heartfelt condolences to bereaved family.

Comrade Samar Baora:

This Conference of AIKS mourns the sad demise of Com.Samar Baora a former MLA and veteran leader of the peasant movement of West Bengal, who passed away on December 1, 2014 at the age of 70. He had been two times Joint Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha and was also the General Secretary of Paschim Banga Krishak Sabha for a long time. The AIKS dips its red banner in memory of Com. Samar Baora and extends our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.

Comrade Bawa Singh:

This Conference of AIKS mourns the death of Com Bawa Singh, former state President of Haryana state Kisan Sabha and former member of AIKC, He had played an important role in organising peasants of Haryana particularly the struggles of Abodkar peasants in Kurukshetra and nearby districts. He was also a key functionary in organising 27th AIKS All India Conference held at Hisar in 1992. The AIKS dips its red banner in memory of Com. Bawa Singh and extends our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.

Comrade Hari Ram Chouhan:

This Conference of AIKS mourns the sad demise of Com Hari Ram Chauhan . He was a former CKC Member, former MLA of Rajasthan Assembly elected from Alwar in 1962 and former CC Member of CPI(M). He passed away on 11th April 2015 . He led many Kisan struggles in Rajasthan. Comrade Giridhari Singh:

This AIKS conference mourns the death of Com Giridhari Singh, AIKC
member and Joint Secretary of Rajasthan unit of AIKS who died on 12th July 2016. The AIKS dips its red banner in memory of Com Giridhani Singh and sends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Comrade Raghubir Singh Hooda:

This conference of AIKS mourns the death of Com Raghubir Singh Hooda, former secretary of CPI (M) Haryana state committee and a veteran advocate, who passed away in Rohtak on February 21. Comrade Hooda had to face police repression several times including detentions under MISA during emergency. He had contributed much in organising conference of AIKS in 1992. We send our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Comrade Shymali Gupta:

This conference of AIKS mourns the death of Com Shumali Gupta, former President of AIDWA, who was lifelong committed to the cause of upliftment of women and other toiling masses.

Comrade Anil Sarkar:

This conference of AIKS mourns the death of Com Anil Sarkar, who passed away on Feb 9, 2015 at the age of 76. He was a life long fighter for social justice and for the cause of toiling masses. He was six times MLA and Minister of Tripura LF Government.

Comrade Parasa Satyanarayana:

This conference of AIKS mourns the death of Com Parasa Satyanaryana a veteran TU Leader and a participant of Telangana peasants armed struggle. He passed away on May 22, 2015 at the age of 91. He was former Vice President of CITU and former President of its AP unit. The AIKS dips its red banner in memory of Com Parasa Satyanarayana and sends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

ON MARTYRS

This Conference of AIKS expresses deep anguish and grief at the suicide of Rohith Vemula a Dalit student and research scholar of Hyderabad University due to caste discrimination, repression and suspension by the V C at the pressure of Central Ministers. The AIKS strongly protests these repressive and casteist actions of University and the ministry. The AIKS stand by the cause of students and sends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The Conference of AIKS expresses it strong protest and indignation at the brutal killings of Comrade Salil Basu, a martyr of Nabana March, West Bengal who died due to heavy injuries caused due to beating by the police.

This conference of AIKS expresses its strong protest at the killings of persons from Muslim and Dalit community lynched by Hindutva hooligans, Pahlu Khan, a dairy farmer from Haryana who was murdered in Alwar Rajasthan by Hindutva cow vigilantes, Juned a teenager lynched in Ballabhgarh Haryana, Abdul Mazid a cattle trader was killed in Kuchaman Rajasthan and others;
The conference of AIKS salutes the martyrdom of 6 farmers killed in police firing at Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh during farmers movement in June last.

The AIKS expresses deep grief at growing suicides of farmers , workers , students and others due to anti people policies of the Govt. and sends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The AIKS expresses its determination to stand by their demands and resolves to fight for their redressal.

The AIKS expresses strong indignation and protest at the death of over 150 people due to anti -people demonetisation done by Modi led government.

The AIKS expresses its strong protest at the killing of peasants in police firing at Bhanger in West Bengal while they were protesting against illegal land acquisition.

The AIKS salutes the martyrdom of all those, who lost their lives fighting against class enemies, TMC goons, RSS and other communalists, casteist, and other divisive elements.

The AIKS also salutes the martyrdom of brave soldiers defending the borders of our country.

This conference of All India Kisan Sabha expresses its strong protest at the growing attacks and killings of rationalists, secular individuals, writers and journalists, like Narendra Dabholkar, Gobind Pansare, M M Kulbargi and Gouri Lankesh. All India Kisan Sabha pledges to uphold the value of rationalism, secularism and freedom of Press, with all its strength. We dip our banner in their memory and send heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

This Conference of AIKS expresses condolences to the families of victims of terrorist and separatist violence in different parts of the country. In the recent period in the course of struggles many comrades have passed away. We remember all their valuable contributions and shall take forward the struggle in the true spirit that they upheld.
